The Al Hamilton Community Choir of Staunton, Virginia formerly known as The Community Mass Choir was formed in 1963 under the direction of Alphonso Hamilton. The choir was originally composed primarily of Staunton residents representing numerous Church denominations in and around the Staunton, Virginia area. Subsequently, other residents from surrounding areas joined the choir. Over the years many have joined then moved on to areas across the United States. Some have returned and others, of course, have joined other choirs and singing affiliations. The Choir has performed at numerous functions and events, participated in numerous fundraisers and has done a tremendous amount of work in the name of our Lord to assist those in need or in distress. The Choir has made several appearances over the years in the Staunton, Virginia and surrounding areas and other cities in places such as Washington, D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and FRANCE just to name a few. Our primary purpose is to serve the Lord with hymn and praise. Throughout the years, numerous professional recordings have been produced resulting in several Albums, Cassette Tapes and Compact Discs.
